Do University of Utah students ride TRAX for free?
As a University of Utah student, you can ride the UTA’s trains and buses for free, so you can travel around Salt Lake City and Northern Utah very easily. Here’s how to use the three lines of the TRAX light rail train system. You can also visit the UTA website for a trip planner, bus and train maps, and more.
How often do TRAX trains come?
TRAX runs seven days per week, with 15-minute frequency during peak times. TRAX is electrically powered via a pantograph that connects the train to overhead catenary wires. Trains can range in length from one to four cars depending on time, day and projected ridership.
Is Trax free in downtown SLC?
UTA TRAX and bus does have a “free fare zone” in downtown Salt Lake City where you can ride for free. If you start or end your trip outside the Free Fare Zone, you’ll need valid fare.
Is Front Runner free for students?

Once you do get through the doors, remember there are three levels on FrontRunner. TRAX only has one. TRAX can only board four per car. Those are the biggies when comparing Utah’s two commuter trains, and if you do ever catch a ride on FrontRunner, keep an eye out for Jerry Davis.
Does Trax still go to the airport?
TRAX Green Line Ride TRAX to the Temporary Airport Station. Board the Airport Shuttle on the East Side of the platform. During weekdays, there is a UTA and Airport Shuttle every 15 minutes before 7 p.m., and 30 minutes afterwards. On weekends, there is a UTA Shuttle every 30 minutes (see specific shuttle times below).
